So far this method of our weekend adventures has been working out well.
May 13 – 15th we were lucky enough to get some time down at the cabin in Waterton Lakes National Park. A true favourite place for both of us. We enjoyed the down time, the quiet of the park before the season truly gets underway and the abundance of wildlife that seemed to enjoy our front lawn.
The weekend consisted of good food, relaxing drinks, reading, Avery playing in the bay and cuddling in front of the fire. The weekend also consisted of many different weather types – Rod arrived to a snow covered deck, but by Saturday afternoon the sun was shining and the breeze was mild.
As always, the time went too fast and by Sunday we knew we had to head home but wanted to stay longer.
The May Long weekend, we found ourselves up in Banff. Sadly, like every long weekend here the forecast was set to rain. We made the best of it. We happened to bring along a tarp much bigger than expected, which worked well to cover the essential areas of the picnic table, the “keep the dog dry” area, as well as line it up so that our camp chairs in front of the fire were covered but the fire was not melting our tarp.
On Saturday we took the time to hike up to the Johnston Canyon waterfalls. Even in the rain it was a beautiful day to take in some local sites around Banff. We enjoy some appies and beer flights at the Banff Ave Brewing Co in town before heading back to camp. We spent the evening time around the fire with our books and just enjoying the time together. Sunday under a light rainfall, we packed up camp and headed home for another work week.
So as the summer goes along, we will work very hard to keep up the blog and share with you our summertime weekend adventures. There will be some weekends where our adventures include staying at home, but spending time out on the water with our newest adventure gear – our inflatable stand up paddle boards.
I sometimes scroll through my Facebook and Instagram and look at how others are spending their time, the photos they take and show the world and the way they live their lives. My goal for this summer is to take the time to enjoy our adventures, enjoy the beautiful and natural surroundings, share our stories and live in the moment and try not to compare our adventures to others. So I hope that those who read this blog can enjoy the authentic nature that I try to bring rather than the nature of trying to be apart of the fad or feature of the month.
Here is just a few more photos from our past weekends – we should be all caught up to day now. So each new post should arrive weekly
