Last weekend, we hit the road for a nice 12 hour drive back home to BC for my cousin’s wedding. There was a lot to do in such a short amount of time, as we only had 4 days off, of which two were spent driving. We definitely made the best of the time while we were there to catch up with a couple friends and of course hang out with my family.

Thursday night after arriving in town, we went and checked in to say Hi to the kids before their bedtime, and then headed out for drinks with a few friends.

Friday morning we headed out to a local park with the water spray park to let the kids play around and get wet. We met up with the only person that I still keep in contact with from high school, she just had a baby and I had to meet the new little guy.

That afternoon we packed up our overnight gear and headed out to Richmond to check into the hotel and get ready for the wedding that was being held at the UBC boathouse. A beautiful location, with only one downside – the dock where the ceremony was held has no railing along the edge, add in a 18 month old kid who loves to swim and would have just walked the plank had he been given the chance, was not the best case scenario. Thankfully between Dad and Aunty we had him watched and kept him out of the water… barely.

The ceremony was beautiful, the sun was shining and my now cousin in law looked beautiful, cuz didn’t look too bad himself!

Before dinner began, we had time to head back to the hotel to cool down a little in the aircon, and chill out before heading back.

The reception was beautiful, simple, classic and elegant. Wyatt stole the show a little, running around in his suspenders, but he is the cutest kid there is (I might be a little biased). The night was danced away with good drinks, family and plenty of laughter. Heather was always part of the family, this day just made it official on paper! (Full family photos will be added once received)

Saturday we got up early to enjoy the hotel pool amenities, went out for breakfast and then headed back to Maple Ridge to pack up for a trip to the lake. Rod and I had brought our paddleboards, as I was extremely excited to take my niece out on the board with me for the first time. Having been out in canoes with her dad before she sat still on the board and enjoyed the ride as much as I did.

Spending that much time in the sun, we opted for dinner at the beach in the shade and then headed home once the sun started to go down.

Even though the time was short this time, our family has plans to head out next week for some more family camping time in Salmon Arm. It is always hard to say goodbye and leave them, but it is much easier when I know I will see them in two weeks.

Our next adventure begins with Rod and I taking the last couple of weeks off to enjoy the mountains. Stay tuned for our adventures in Revelstoke and camping in Salmon Arm next week.

Until Next Time,

– Tracy
