As most final days of trips go, we packed up in the morning, grabbed our last lunch at our favorite burger joint and headed to the airport. The flight home was not too bad, we just had to endure another 5 hour drive to get home to Avery and Lethbridge. After a decent night sleep, we are headed back to the reality of life as student and full time employee. I just wanted to put of one last post to capture our final thoughts on the trip and throw in some fun photos as well.
Rod and I have thoroughly enjoyed this adventure that we randomly decided to take on a few months ago. The country of Iceland is full our beautiful landscapes, scenery, attractions and nature. Coming in the winter months, we had some interesting road conditions and moments in time where we found ourselves saying “it must be a summer thing”.
We were greeted with a country that if willing to go the distance in KM’s will show you some amazing things that will truly make you thankful for being able to take the time to get away from home and experience something new. We were also greeted with a country that speaks English and is not offended, that we did not try to learn their language – I’m sure they would be more hurt if we tried to attempt it and just butchered it badly.
We chased waterfalls, and instagram pictures from travellers before us. We found time to talk and laugh as the silence of having no radio stations made the car rides more interesting. We explored and found comfort in the ability to make our schedule, and not having to keep to the schedules of the tour companies.
We cringed at the price of gas, but knew that in the end, our pictures and memories of this trip will last a lifetime and that money can always be made to pay off our not racked credit cards.
Rod and I felt that this trip went exactly how we thought it would go, there were no major issues or problems during the course, we just drove our way through iceland and tried to see as many things as we could possible. As always we are thankful for the opportunities we get when it comes to traveling and seeing the world. I can only guess that there will be many more adventures just like this one in an always hopeful fashion in the current future.
We hope that everyone has enjoyed reading about our adventure and Rod’s pictures that have truly capture a beautiful side of this country.
Here are all the iPhone and my photos – that as much as I would like them to be, never seem to compare to Rod’s but are always fun to have.
