For our second road trip of the summer, Rod and I headed out to Kelowna for a very special wedding. My super awesome friend Kari got to marry her best friend Alex in a beautiful ceremony at Caldwell Heritage Farms.
Rod and I made the nine hour drive out on Friday and were lucky enough to stay with Rod’s Aunt Elizabeth, who has this amazing place in West Kelowna. She has this amazing deck with this amazing view of the lake. I wish we could have stayed longer, with our morning breakfast watching the sun rise and set over the lake. Friday evening with Rod’s cousins also in town for the long weekend, we decided to head out on the lake with the paddle boards and kayaks for a little catch up time and a drink. Once out of the water, we headed back to Liz’s place for dinner. Throughout our time there we were thoroughly spoiled with home cooked meals and amazing company.
Saturday morning, we got up, and I joined Liz, Emma and Harrison on a trip over to the Kelowna Farmers market. There were so many vendors there, I wanted to take so much of it home with me. Thankfully, my bachelorette party is also being held on a weekend in Kelowna, which means I may have to go back and grab some goodies I missed.
The rest of the morning was getting ready and then heading out to the ceremony. It was a beautiful sunny and hot day, a perfect setting within the trees on a beautiful farm. Kari was pure elegance, she was radiant as she walked down the stairs to join hands with Alex and share their love with friends and family surrounding them.
Following their nuptials, we enjoyed a light snack and a campaign toast. We then headed back into town to continue the celebrations at the Manteo Resort. The rest of the evening was great food, amazing and heartfelt speeches, a few drinks here and there and plenty of dancing.
Feeling the effects of our evening activities, Sunday we held as a lazy do very little day. Rod was struggling with it a little more so he spent the day in the air-con house, while I headed out to a local beach, to enjoy some of the sunny weather. We were treated to another amazing dinner that evening and just spent some quality time catching up with the family.
Monday, we packed up the car and made the wonderful nine hour journey back home to miss Avery who had spent the weekend home in Lethbridge with some friends of ours.
The rest of the week we spent working away on some wedding projects, work projects and household fun, and started to get everything packed and ready for our trip north to the Banff/Lake Louise area.
Until next time,
– Tracy
