The day has come, where after setting up this awesome new travel website blog that will contain all the things of our upcoming adventure, we spent the day starting to plan out a few finer details.
We received confirmation that our Crossfit 2015 Games Gold tickets are saved with our names on them! Thank you to the wonderful Heather Gillespie for making that happen for us! Contact was made to book accommodations in Carson, we have tentative dates laid out for difference places we want to hit up along the road down the USA Northwest coast line as well we were able to book in a night stay at our favorite boutique hotel in Long Beach Washington the Adrift Hotel.
The story behind this place is one of my favorites. When Rod and I first met we were living about 1200 kms from one another. After our initial meeting, I took another trip back to Lethbridge to visit and in April of 2012 Rod made the trip out to Vancouver. We had spent those couple months apart by spending hours on skype and the phone, learning about each other. Something I learned about Rod was that he liked to be in control and have as many details as possible to A. Research and B. To just know everything. I made him throw that out the window. I had booked us a little trip down in Washington, to a place I had never been to. It was our first adventure together. I researched and was able to find this cute little oceanside town down near the border of Washington and Oregon. There in Long Beach, I found the cutest eco friendly newly constructed beachfront boutique hotel. It was the best three days together, we enjoy walks on the beach, exploring the many antique shops and finding a small piece of Australia at the Lost Roo Restaurant. We were both very excited to call today and book in our night stay back where things all began!
Other things took place today, that started to make this adventure seem more real than ever, the joy of booking off time from work. We were able to calculate the days off that Rod has available and it looks like we will be taking off for the WHOLE month of July. We could not be more excited about the chance to see the coast, the ocean, and checkout as many of the National Parks and Forests along the way. Tentatively we have set out where we would like to take stops in different places, but I am excited about the opportunities and the chances we might take to explore new places as things are not totally set in stone. Crazy enough even trying to book this far in advance for a few things, the summer months are pretty booked already. Thankfully that might be where pulling off to the side of the road and sleeping in the back of the car might come in handy.
It will be interesting how the next 7 weeks will go. We are both in save mode for this trip, as sadly the monthly payments of life can not be turned off. We will also be working away at being inventive with packing, the things we need to bring or try to live without and trying to figure out how to live and sleep in my car.
I hope to find some words before our big road trip gets underway, there is always the possibility of other adventures or chances that might arise before we leave on Canada Day. If nothing else, the countdown has begun and I am sure our excited for this trip will only continue to grow.
Until Next Time….
