Hello again,
I know we left everyone on a big adventure after our trip to Iceland all the way back in February. Since then Rod and I got back into the swing of things with work and finishing up the semester. Now that school has finished and the work week continues, we hope to make good use of our weekends. The plan this summer is to do all the hard stuff during the week and play on the weekends.
The biggest addition to our gear family to help make our adventures more fun was the purchase of inflatable Stand Up Paddle Boards.
Rod and I are very excited about getting out on the water to explore the many lakes and water reservoirs that are located in and around Lethbridge and the surrounding southern Alberta. Our first outing included a light paddle on Henderson Lake, to try out the new boards and see how they run.
Our second trip out included a trip out to Park Lake. This one we got a little over excited about bringing the dog and getting her involved. It started out alright, she was willing to spend some time on the boards. She got nervous and jumped off Rod’s board, I was able to get her to swim to me and pick her up onto my board. Again she was willing to hang out for a bit and then decided she was done, taking a jump into the water, I was caught off guard and ended up joining her in the water for an unexpected swim. The water was cold, but Rod and I both knew it was a possibility.
We will continue to work with her to help her get comfortable on the boards, and hopefully enjoy it with us. Many of our weekends this summer will involve heading out to different places to take in a paddle and enjoy the views.
Until next time,
– Tracy
